Privacy Policy

Scribe is a speech-to-text app that runs on your device. We do not operate a server, we have no account system, and we do not collect, sell, or share your personal data. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising, and no tracking.

What Scribe processes, and where

• Your voice (microphone audio). Audio is transcribed locally on your device by an on-device speech model. It is not uploaded to us and we never receive it. Audio is held only in memory during a recording and is discarded afterward.
• Your transcripts. Saved transcription history is stored only on your device. You can delete any item, or wipe everything, from Settings → Data.
• Custom vocabulary and settings. Stored locally on your device.

Optional features that contact third parties

These are off by default and only run if you turn them on:

• Cloud transcription (bring-your-own-key). If you add your own API key and endpoint in Settings, the audio for that request is sent to the provider you chose (e.g. OpenAI), governed by that provider's privacy policy. Scribe does not see or proxy this traffic. Leave it off to stay fully offline.
• Translation language packs (Google ML Kit). The first time you translate into a language, the on-device translation model for that language is downloaded from Google's servers. This downloads model files only. Your text is not sent anywhere; translation runs locally once the model is present.

Device permissions

• Microphone: to hear what you dictate.
• Speech recognition: for on-device transcription.
• Display over other apps (Android, optional): for the floating Flow Bubble.
• Accessibility (Android, optional): only to paste dictated text into the field you're typing in. Scribe does not read, log, or transmit screen content.
• Storage: to save downloaded models and your local history.

Data retention and deletion

All Scribe data lives on your device. Uninstalling the app, or using Settings → Data → Delete all data, removes your history and downloaded models.

Children's privacy

Scribe is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from them (we don't collect personal data from anyone).

Changes

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change.
