Common questions

Does Scribe need an internet connection?

No for dictation with an offline model. The default engine is your phone's built-in speech recognition. Any other model in Models is a one-time download; once it finishes, dictation runs with the network off.

A model download failed or is stuck.

Model files download once from Hugging Face or GitHub, so they need a working connection. Check that you are online, then open Models and tap the model again to retry.

Scribe can't hear me.

Scribe needs the microphone and speech recognition permissions. If you declined them, turn them back on in your phone's Settings under Scribe.

Where are my transcripts stored?

Only on your device. We do not run a server and never receive your audio or text. You can delete items in History, or everything from Settings → Data → Delete all data.

Does Scribe cost anything?

No. Scribe is free, with no account, no ads, and no in-app purchases.
